Time again! I can't believe...never mind. It flies. So what. Anyway, it was my turn to choose a subject for this month. Not fun for me what with little suz chirpin away in my ear about subject choice. I wasn't as forthcoming as I should have been so when I saw Diana's email requesting a decision, I looked around, saw my camera sitting next to the computer and thought, why not!

When it came time to start the painting...last night...yes, late again...I thought I'd just set up my camera and shoot it from an extreme angle or positioned in some cool way. I actually had it in my hand when it dawned on me. Really Suzanne? How?

Nothing gets past me! So I dove into my reference archives and found this shot that I've been wanting to do. Clearly it's a quick study which himself is over the moon about. "No smoothing!" All night long, even before he drifted off..."Are you smoothing?" Woke up, groggy around 3AM and crackled...."no smoothing right?"

This time, I'm in full agreement, no smoothing! I want to try more quick oil studies but little suz is dead set against it. We'll see.

And with no further ado:

TRAMPOLINE 1

16x20 oil on canvas
SOLD

I'm working on a donation painting that's been a bit of a bear to do and himself has been rather adamant about me posting as much as possible so I thought I'd haul out some older stuff in the meantime.

This is from '08 I believe and is the first in a series of three paintings of a girl jumping on a trampoline. If I had it to do over again I certainly would tone down that shadow. Ouch!

Still cleaning! I found this blast from the past in the closet in the hallway downstairs. Even found my old portfolio from FIT! I thought I wanted to be a fashion illustrator at the time. Great school, amazing fine art department. I often wish I had been more attentive during my time there.

Anyway, this was from my pastel period. I was a Daniel Greene devotee. Even interviewed to be an assistant at his studio farm upstate. Trial husband had just left and I wanted to lose myself in art. It would have meant quite a reduction in salary, a little shed to sleep in and trip to the main barn to use the facilities. I wasn't chosen anyway but if I were younger at the time and didn't own a home that I wanted to keep, it would have been amazing. Accommodations aside, one on one instruction from Mr. Greene was part of the deal!

But that would have meant no Tim and that is just unacceptable.

GIVE 'IM AN INCH

SOLD

...and he may or may not take a mile. If, indeed, he did decide to take that mile, it could take some time. I wonder exactly how long it would take an inch worm travel 5,280 feet?

Nothing like paintin' a critter to get the spirits up. Back to work.
