Summer is more than half over already! Amazing. This month's challenge, given to us by Diana, was to paint human eyes. So many possibilities and great subject matter, I just couldn't decide what to do. Then I remembered I'd seen a documentary last week that showcased old photos of a woman that stuck with me because of her haunting, piercing, yet hypnotic eyes.
Enjoy...

H(eye) there Suzanne!... "I"... must say the each of the "eyes"... is eye-catching for their own unique perspectives... reasons... and qualities!
ReplyDeleteWhich is better? Doesn't matter... and isn't for "Me" to judge. After all... "beauty... lies in the eye of the beholder." Isn't that how it goes??? Really cool responses ... "I" truly enjoyed each of them!
Good Painting!
Warmest regards,
Bruce
Wonderful, Suzanne, this face is so deeply expressive!

Wow, Suz! Just stunning work as always. I love old photos too and in the days when smiling for a photo was anathema, those intense eyes just gripped you! I must commend both Diana and Sherman especially. Both their pieces are amazing as well. Sherman's especially is just so attention grabbing and beautifully painted. All of the works are awesome though.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely luminous. A haunting portrait, Suzanne. Diane created a marvelous challenge for you all; every one different, every one worth a second, third, fourth and more(!) look.
ReplyDeleteSuzanne, I chose Helen's Eyes as my favorite painting today on Rosa's Picks. I hope you'll come by and check it out! Thanks, Rosa
ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting, Suzanne!
ReplyDeleteHelen's eyes are such deep pools of thought. One wants to find out "the rest of the story" about her.

This is striking. Makes me want to continue to stare at it. Beautiful work. You truly captured a feeling which can be pretty difficult sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI love the old world quality of your painted eyes painting. They eyes are talking and I want to know what they are saying? It was a great challenge.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous challenge!! I've always wanted to paint just eyes but haven't done it yet. Your painting is summed up perfectly with the words "haunting" and "piercing". Makes you want to know more of her story. Lvoe the palette you used. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSuz, I am especially impressed with your color choice for this piece - it could not have been better than what you selected. It is such a wonderful complexity that Helen's mouth is smiling but her eyes seem to have a completely different story. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteSweet challenge and so many great entries!
ReplyDeleteThis is so awesome Suzanne. Truly she is hauntingly beautiful, what a great choice for this challenge! I LOVE it!! :D
