Peaceful, soothing and joyful. These are good emotions. I like feeling good. Toward that end, I see more of these, some perhaps even larger, in my future. This was just pure fun to work on.
The shapes and folds, attained simply by mushing the sheet about by hand, begin to take on their own identity. Some start vaguely resembling the human form and then morph into the petals of a flower, an outstretched arm, a head of lettuce or a stack of paper. The possibilities seem endless. I'm very happy.
Beautiful and I love your commentary! I could get totally lost in this painting!
ReplyDeleteYou see "fun", I see "difficult", you see "peaceful", I see "headache"! Beautifully executed folds and waves and shadows. I'm more than impressed.
ReplyDeleteSuzanne, once again your have created the ordinary into the extraordinary. You are one talented lady.
ReplyDeleteI pulled this up several hours ago and just keep looking at this beautiful melange of sheets... I find it a very warming and peaceful painting and think that one could look at this for a very long time. I imagine it in a series of three consuming a wall.
ReplyDeleteExquisite, Suzanne!

wow - this is gorgeous! I am way impressed, because I have always thought those folds in sheets make for a beautiful painting - until I tried to paint it that is :-) This is amazing
ReplyDeleteMy head hurts just thinking about all the time and effort you put into all those folds and curves. Wow Suz, you are one brave lady and of course, you pulled it off with your usual incredible skills.

Beautiful, Suzanne! Reminds me of our Unmade Bed Challenge awhile back. I love the abstraction and realism here in this piece.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully handled, Suz! I see a place I just want to crawl into and be comfy!
ReplyDeleteVERY VERY NICE !!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow - What amazing things you can do with such an ordinary subject! :0)
ReplyDeleteIncredible as usual! I would never have the patience to stick with all the folds. You amaze me more every painting.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! Painting fabrics is one of my favorite subjects (gee can you tell since most of my models end up swathed in the stuff?) I also find it relaxing. Somehow meditative. Following the line of folds and curves and shadows and highlights...very lovely.
ReplyDeleteThere is a wow factor with this one very nicely done.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're happy! It shows in this playful joyful piece. I love letting my eyes roam and play amongst the folds and creases. Congrats on a beautiful piece!
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear you're happy! This is remarkable. I love it when you get lost in folds, you always produce something remarkable. Along with your little insects, your folded works are my favourites.
ReplyDeleteOh, JOY!
