THE LADY AND HER SHADOW

20x20"
oil on linen
$140

Ok, I'm stuck in bug heaven. I promise myself that I will paint an apple or a crab or a portrait or a nude and every time I pick up a brush here lately it's to paint a bug! Oh well, go with the flow or in this case crawl with the critters, I guess.

Magic, my friend. Pure magic. And that shadow is just amazing....

I agree! That shadow must have come from that wonderful imagination of yours. More magical and wondrous bugs please. This one makes me happy.

I love your bug paintings - they're beautiful and engaging.

I'd love to see your take on a stag beetle or one of those iridescent blue beetles.

Damn.

This one is so simple and yet so fantastic.

I LOVE the blueish-purple cast shadow that stretches from underneath the ladybug. The shadow itself almost looks like watercolors!

Great job making the bug look glossy.

How many more of these can you do, Suzanne?!

Can't wait to see what critter you paint next!

Hi again!
I know I sound like a broken record...love the bugs! And love the words you write to inspire along with them. Can't wait to see more. We check in once a week with anticipation...which is a lot in our crazy busy lives! Thanks so much for being a bright spot!

My husband and I also love the dog portraits....we have 2 mini dachshunds...we lovingly call "muttbags". Your portraits are wonderful.

Cheers,
Jessa
