FLY ONE

24x36 oil on canvas
SOLD

Buggin again! So much fun to paint, however I would suggest, for the purposes of this painting being attractive enough to enjoy, that we put aside our knowledge of where these puppies land and what they do when they get there and just try hard focus on the lovely array of color on it's back.

Try. Try really hard. I am. Ick!

  1. I despise these insects but have always admired that reflective green that shows in certain lights on their...backs? Beautifully done, Suzanne!!

  2. Oh Suzanne, only you could take a much hated and ugly subject and make something to admire out of it. I have to agree about that beautiful green that you captured so well.

  3. Beautiful. I think it's curious that we dislike these flies so much. Hummingbirds have a similar iridescence and annoying buzz, and nobody hates hummingbirds. Must be the germs. This fly will have a chance to be a fly on somebody's wall.

  4. This is absolutely beautiful. I agree that I am not a big fan of flies but they have their own beauty and purpose (I suppose!). Nice job.

  6. Hi Suzanne!... Shoo Fly! Shoo!... I despise flies ...usually! Having worked in a dairy barn... it's about their vittles... then landin' on moi... that forms my fierce feelings!

By taken to the perspective you have created here... "You" have added beauty and an aura of colour that's... delicious (to the eye)!!! A great piece as usual Suzanne!

Thanks for your gracious comments re:my new project!

    Good Painting!
    Warmest regards,
    Bruce

  7. Suzanne, your are an amazing artist. For me to say how beautiful a fly is, what magnificent color. It's true when they say beauty is everywhere.

    All the best to you.

  12. How good are you? So good that you can make me contemplate the beauty in a bug. And I am quite the bug-hater.

  14. Love all your art, but ~really~ like the bugs! The wasps, fly, lady bug, all on the white background.
    Really like them.
