DOUG

8x8" oil on cradled hardboard
SOLD

And, here's Doug. He's just your average bee. Dependable, good natured—unless pheromones indicate otherwise or course—faithful and hardworking. Dutifully brings the honey home to the wife and kids, family day and chores on Saturday, football on Sunday with the occasional side trip to Home Depot to keep the hive in tip top shape. He's even nice to his mother-in-law.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

  1. The names you give your critters and their stories you write about them are priceless! What a wonderful sense of humour and imagination you have, not to mention your painting skills, another beauty.

  2. Well how the hell have I missed so many of your beautiful posts?!! Seriously Suzanne, your talent just soars and your work is fantastic. I just read your interview by Carrie. It was great learning a bit more about you! Your husband is an artist too. Whoa ; ) I am really blown away at how beautifully and precisely you paint - your bugs, for sure - but the figures you've done are top-notch as well. It is a pleasure to see your work scroll up. Love.

  6. Hi there Suzanne!... More BUZZZZZZZZ!... and Doug's brilliant in his fuzzy best! You really give him some much needed class and status Suz!!!

"Just an average bee".... despite all of the ingratiating traits... still a "drone"!!! Imagine spending one's life creating wax hexogonal cubicles.... hive cleaning... air conditioning for hours on end... and gaining frequent flyer points ad nauseum to make honey... that somebody else will sell.... UGH!

"To bee... or not to bee..."HUMMMMMMMMMM!!! Not simply a question... rather a sentence!
Back to the easel for Moi!

    Good one Suzanne!
    Good Painting!... and Beeeeeee Happy!

    Warmest regards,
    Bruce

  8. Suzanne, I don't know what it is but something about your paintings "bug" me. Were you one of those young girls that liked bugs?

If the real ones all looked as friendly as your paintings, I would have liked them better. Great work! Doug seems like such a good guy.

  9. Lol! Your names make me chuckle! And help me warm to these buzzy bees! This one is amazing! Well, really they ALL are, but this one is somehow even more amazing!Maybe it's that shine on his back, or that he is larger that the others... I can't put my finger on it. Any way - brilliant! :0)
