This is my very first serious attempt at oil painting, way back in the day. Pre-himself even! I remember realizing that I could not approximate my reference without multiple applications of paint. It was like finding out there was no Santa. Very disappointing. Hey, I never claimed to be well balanced.
Oh my goodness Suzanne! I bow at your feet for painting this beautiful image in the style and technique of our old Masters. I can only paint like this in my dreams.
ReplyDeleteWahever you think about it, it turned out so pretty, that sure got my attemntion! Love it.
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome painting, I love it! But I really have to talk about Daz Man! I am so, so sorry to hear about his little accident. I am a recent Pug convert, I have 3 big mutts, and my son and his girlfriend got a Pug last spring. That dog has the BIGGEST personality of any dog I know. And those faces, DaZ Man is precious! I wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery for the little guy, he will do fine!! Hope you sell a ton of paintings to pay for his operation!!
ReplyDeleteSuz, It looks to me like you hit the oil-painting-road a-running... Great work! -Don
ReplyDeleteGreat painting Suzanne, I love the spots of sunlight.
ReplyDeleteSuzanne, you are blessed with a wonderful talent. You don't need Santa, your work is great.
ReplyDeletevery well done, Suzanne. Really liked your last several posts. You just are just not doing a bad painting.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about Raz. Been there myself with a poodle cross once who went from my studio deck on 2nd floor onto roof and fell over doing the hip thing.
What am I talking about? I am recovering from nearly the same thing. Today, I have gone to one crutch. Not real comfortable but am doing it. They ought to be impressed at Rehab tomorrow.
Suzanne!
ReplyDeleteThis was your FIRST attempt at oil painting?!?!
I'm so jealous!
You're so good! Better than you realize.
