THE SUMMIT (Bug 6)

10x10"
oil on linen
$125

I admit it. The bugs are beginning to get easy. Yes, I did easy today. I just heard myself say, "yeah, so?" I'm the only one setting the ridiculously high expectations that I never seem to live up to. As much as I'd like to blame it on the voice, let's face it, it's mine. Can't blame this one on Mom.

One thing that I'm noticing is the fear of a blank canvas is dissipating. I'm still anxious but the anticipation of painting is beginning to overshadow the fear. This is good.

  1. OMG! I love this! Your flies are fantastic. Ordinarily viewed as a pest, you'll raised them to be organic gems. Bravo!

  4. Amazing rendering of the flies! I just love it! Funny, yesterday I was thinking about putting flies, ladybugs in my small fruit paintings. Keep up the great work.

  6. You've made these little pests look like gorgeous jewels. You made the most of their colors and they look luminous. I don't think anyone could have done this better.

  7. Damn! These are good. Ridiculously good!

    Loaded in color and detail!

I would really love to see a scan of the flies actual size though, just to see how detailed they are at their regular width and height.

Maybe the next time you do a bug painting you can include a second, actual size scan of just the bugs so we can get a sense of how small or large you actually work?

I did click onto the image of the flies but the larger pic was super big, way bigger than 10" x 10".

    Just a suggestion, that's all.

Who knew bugs could be so beautiful!
